Seijuu Sentai Gingaman (星獣戦隊ギンガマン Seijū Sentai Gingaman?), translated into English as Starbeast Squadron Gingaman,[2] is TOEI Company Limited's twenty-second production of the Super Sentai television series. Its footage has been used in Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy

It is the first Super Sentai series that bore the "-man" suffix since Choujin Sentai Jetman since the writers wanted the series to have a retro feel.[citation needed]

This series is not to be confused with the one-time villainous but humorous Sentai from Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman, the Ginga Sentai Gingaman.

Every episode of Seijuu Sentai Gingaman begins with the statement: "The Starbeasts: They are mysterious animals that fight to protect the peace of the Galaxy!" 星獣、それは銀河の平和を守る為に戦う、神秘の動物達の事である!(Seijū, sore wa ginga no heiwa mamoru tameni tatakau, shinbi no dōbutsu-tachi no koto de aru!)

[edit] Plot

Three thousand years ago, the Space Pirates Barban invaded Earth. The Starbeasts and the first Gingaman, warriors of the Ginga forest, fought them with the mystical power called Earth and eventually were able to imprison them. The Ginga people later cloaked their forest within marked boundaries and passed on the duty of Ginga warriors through generations.

Hyuuga, Hayate, Gouki, Hikaru and Saya are chosen as the 133rd warriors of the Star Beast Swords. Ryouma is very happy that his elder brother Hyuuga succeeds to the honorable title. When Elder Ohghi holds the succession ceremony of Star Beast Swords, an earthquake breaks the seal of Barban.

Ohghi orders the 133rd warriors to get the GingaBraces hidden in Roaring Mountain. However, the Barban attacks them to prevent the birth of the new Gingamen. During the battle, Hyuuga got swallowed into a crack in the ground which Captain Zahab of the Barban created. Enraged, Ryouma activates his hidden Earth power and awaken the Ginga Braces. The Gingaman fights together with the Starbeasts against the Barban, who desire to revive the Demon Beast, Daitanix, on whose 'corpse' they built their castle.

[edit] Main characters

[edit] Gingamen

[edit] Auxiliary characters

[edit] Bokku

Fairy Bokku (妖精ボック Yōsei Bokku?) is a very distracted fairy with an acorn-shaped helmet. He is always with Moak and ends every phrase saying "bokku!".

[edit] Aoyama Family

[edit] Haruhiko

Haruhiko Aoyama (青山 晴彦 Aoyama Haruhiko?) is a writer of children's stories, Haruhiko believed in the existence of the legendary Ginga Forest. He offers the Gingaman his ranch, the Silver Star Equestrian Club, for them to live in after their forest home was pertified and wrote all their adventures.

[edit] Yuuta

Yuuta Aoyama (青山 勇太 Aoyama Yūta?) is Haruhiko's 9-year-old son. He didn't believe the legend until he witnesses the birth of the 133rd Gingamen.

In episode 6, he is given GingaLeon's planet stone.

[edit] Orghi

Elder Orghi (長老オーギ Chōrō Ōgi?, 1-2, 50) is the leader of the Ginga people. When the Ginga Forest is attacked by Shelinda to use its energy to revive Ditanix, Orghi casts a petrification spell on himself and everything in the forest to prevent her from sucking the energy, submerged into the lake. Before becoming fully petrified, Orghi leaves a pendant with a seed to the Gingamen. In the finale after Zahab's death, the Ginga Forest resurfaces and Orghi as well as the rest of the Ginga people are restored much to the surprise of the Gingamen.

[edit] Moak

Wisdom Tree Moak (知恵の樹モーク Chie no Ki Mōku?, 3-48, 50) is Orghi's final gift to the Gingamen before he is fully turned to stone and is located outside the Aoyama farm. Moak senses all the events that happen near any forest or wood, such as Barban's presence. He is the one who gives new weapons to the Gingaman. He also has knowledge of all Ginga legends. Near the finale, he sacrifices himself to prevent the birth of the Earth Beast and remove the traces of the Extreme Growth Extract which was affecting the earth and the Gingamen's earth powers, but he left behind a seed. After the Ginga Forest is restored in the finale, Moak is revived when Orghi plants his seed in the Ginga Forest.

[edit] Suzuko

Suzuko Mizusawa (水澤 鈴子 Mizusawa Suzuko?, 11-50) is Yuuta's school teacher. Mizusawa is Gouki's secret love.

[edit] BullBlack

Black Knight BullBlack (黒騎士ブルブラック Kuro Kishi BuruBurakku?, 17-25) was a vengeful warrior and not technically a Gingaman. He seeks revenge for his young brother Krantz (クランツ Kurantsu?, 19 (flashback), 25), who is killed by the Barban during their assault on their home planet, Taurus. His original goal is to find Lights of Ginga, so he could take revenge on Zahab. But his means are very selfish, as he does not care about hurting innocent humans to reach his goal, unlike the Gingamen. But later it was revealed that he had fallen one thousand years earlier in the same abyss as Hyuuga, and that BullBlack uses the man's body to escape the abyss and fight again. This revelation came up when Hyuuga begins stopping him from using techniques that would hurt humans. After Krantz's spirit begged him to stop hurting people, BullBlack releases Hyuuga and is killed to save the Gingamen from a hate energy explosion. His spirit found peace after reuniting with Krantz. Later, they appear (as spirits) to inherit Hyuuga with BullBlack's powers by giving him the BullRiot Sword.

[edit] Degius

A forced Majin, Degius (デギウス Degiusu?, 40) was once a warrior of good who became corrupted. He is eventually killed being forced to give energy to revive Daitanix. When he dies, GingaYellow turns his sword into a monument of sorts to remember him by placing his sword on the beach to look like a cross gravestone sticking out of the sand.

[edit] Other Sentai Teams

[edit] Space Pirates Barban

The Space Pirates Barban (宇宙海賊バルバン Uchū Kaizoku Baruban?) are group of pirates who have destroyed many planets along the Milky Way. They have their headquarters, the Rowdy Invincible Castle (荒くれ無敵城 Arakure Mutekijō?), mounted on the back of Daitanix. They once tried to invade Earth but the first generation of Gingaman and the Starbeasts sealed them in the bottom of the sea. 3,000 years later, an earthquake broke the seal and Barban was released, with plans of awakening Daitanix in our time. Its four great armies plot various strategies in order to achieve it.
