Nationality American

Scott Frank (born March 10, 1960) is an American screenwriter known for his work as both a writer of original works: Dead Again, Little Man Tate and The Lookout (which he also directed) as well as adaptations of novels by authors whose strong voices and writing styles pose an additional challenge to screenwriters. For example, Frank is associated with the writer Elmore Leonard after his adaptations of two of Leonard's work (Get Shorty and Out of Sight) were greeted with much acclaim. His solo work on the screenplay for Out of Sight was nominated for an Academy Award and received an Edgar Award, a National Society of Film Critics Award, and a Writers Guild of America Award. Frank's work on adapting Philip K. Dick's Minority Report for Steven Spielberg is another example of Frank's ability to find the film hidden in an original novel or, in this case, a short story. Frank most recently completed work on the adaptation of John Grogan's much loved novel: Marley & Me. He is also highly sought after for his considerable uncredited work polishing and reworking other scripts prior to production.

Frank's first feature as a director, The Lookout was released in March 2007 to generally favorable reviews.

He is a past Member of the Board of Directors of the Writers Guild of America, west. Frank received his BA from the Film Studies Department of the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1982, and an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from the AFI Conservatory.

Frank is married with three children. The family lives in Pasadena, California.
