Scott Phillip Aldred (born June 12, 1968 in Flint, Michigan) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher for nine years. Acquired by the Detroit Tigers as the 16th selection in the June 1986 Amateur draft. Brought up to Tigers for Sept. trial in 1990 after compiling 6-15 mark and 4.90 ERA at Toledo. Also ranked 3rd in International League in strikeouts (133 in 158 innings) in 1990. Scott was 10-6 with 3.84 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 122 innings at London in 1989 despite being sidelined in midseason with a hand injury. Scott struck out 102 batters in 131-1/3 innings at Lakeland in 1988 while compiling 8-7 mark and 3.57 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 110 innings in his 1st pro season at Fayetteville in 1987.[1] He played for the Detroit Tigers (1990-1992, 1996), Colorado Rockies (1993), Montreal Expos (1993), Minnesota Twins (1996-1997), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998-1999), and the Philadelphia Phillies (1999-2000). He held the major league record for most appearances in a single season without a decision (earning a win or being charged with a loss) with 48 until 2007 when it was broken by Trever Miller. He accomplished this feat in 1998 with the Devil Rays.

Aldred was born in Flint, Michigan and graduated from high school in 1986 from Hill McCloy High School in Montrose, Michigan, a rural town just north of Flint.

Aldred was the pitching coach of the New York Yankees' Double-A affiliate, the Trenton Thunder, in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, he will be the pitching coach of the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.
