Samuel Aiken (born December 14, 1980 in Clinton, North Carolina) is an American football wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at North Carolina.
[edit] Early yearsAiken attended James Kenan High School in Warsaw, North Carolina where he was an All-Conference honoree in football, basketball, and track & field. In track & field, he placed second at the North Carolina State Meet on the high jump. [edit] Professional career[edit] Buffalo BillsPrimarily a special teams player, Aiken made his mark covering kicks and punts on one of the league's best special teams units. However, he played a limited role on offense, and because he was in the last year of his contract it was rumored that he would be released for someone who could make a larger impact on offense.[citation needed] The Bills allowed him to enter the free agent market without effort.[citation needed] [edit] New England PatriotsOn March 3, 2008, Aiken signed with the New England Patriots.[1] [edit] References
