Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) is an Indonesian television station. Its headquarters are in South Jakarta. It began broadcasting on August 24, 1990, in Surabaya, East Java, broadcasting only to the city and surrounding area. In 1991 SCTV Bali was established in Denpasar. At this point the programming was similar to that of RCTI and used some of their news programs until they could produce their own. In 1993 it was given a national license, and eventually moved its operations to Jakarta, the main office in South Jakarta and studios in West Jakarta. It is owned by the Sariaatmadja group. Its motto is "Satu Untuk Semua" ("One for All") and "Berbagi Sensasi" ("Give Sensation"). During the 2006 World Cup, it holds the monopoly as the only broadcaster to broadcast the event. It famous for its soap operas, such as Pedekate, Melati Untuk Marvel and Terlanjur CInta.

1990: first launch, under the long name 'Surabaya Centra Televisi', with programming similar to that of RCTI.
1991: established SCTV Bali in Denpasar and SCTV Surakarta in Surakarta, and changed the long name into Surya Citra Televisi
1993: SCTV broadcasts nationallity
1993 - 1998: SCTV moved the headquarters from Surabaya to Jakarta.
1995: SCTV broadcasted "Buletin Pagi" and "Buletin Siang".
1996: SCTV produce their own news program called Liputan 6, and broadcasting Liputan 6 Petang in May 20, 1996, and also broadcasting Liputan 6 Pagi, in August 24, 1996
1997: First time broadcasting Liputan 6 Siang.
2001: SCTV moved the headquarters from Graha Indovision to Graha SCTV.
2002: First time broadcasting Liputan 6 Jawa Timur
2003:
- First time broadcasting Liputan 6 Malam.
- SCTV got Pertamina award.
2006:
- Broadcasted 2006 World Cup programs.
- SCTV raised its current logo flag
2007:
- SCTV News got the certificate
- SCTV got MURI certificate
2008:
- SCTV moved the headquarters from Graha SCTV to SCTV Tower at Senayan City.
- SCTV News established new logo and new studio.
- SCTV got the new record while live on air.
2009:
- SCTV revamped their news theme again.
2010:
- SCTV will be celebrate its 20th anniversary.
