Sèvres is a commune in the south-western suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 9.9 km (6.2 miles) from the center of Paris.

The town is known for its porcelain manufacture, the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, making the famous Sèvres porcelain, as well as being the location of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures.

  • May 20, 1875: The Convention du Mètre is signed in Sèvres. This convention is an international treaty that established three organizations to oversee the keeping of metric standards.
  • After the First World War, in Sèvres the peace treaty with the Ottoman Empire was signed.
