• The Tsardom of Russia, the Russian state from the 16th century to the late 17th century
• The Grand Duchy of Moscow (Muscovy), the Russian state from the 14th century to mid 16th century
• The Novgorod Republic, a Russian state between the 12th and 15th century
• The Kievan Rus', the first Rus state formed by Varangians at the end of the first millennium.

• The land of the Rus', the east slavic people known today as Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians (Russian: Русская земля, Latin: Ruthenia)
