"Running Back" is a song written by Sean Ray/Snob Scrilla and producer Audius Mtawarira and recorded by Mauboy for her debut studio album Been Waiting. The song features American rapper Flo Rida and was released digitally on 27 September 2008 as Mauboy's debut single.^[1]

"Running Back" was recorded entirely in Melbourne, except for the rap which Flo Rida recorded in Los Angeles, California. It was sent to Australian radio on 15 September 2008 and made available on the Australian iTunes Store on 27 September.^[1] A physical CD single was originally intended to be released on 18 October, but due to demand the release date was brought forward to 11 October.^[2] A digital EP containing the exclusive track "Breathe" was also released on 11 October. "Running Back" has been certified 2 x Platinum for shipments of 140,000 units in Australia.

"Running Back" received positive reviews from the media and general public. MTV Australia described the track as "a haunting, downbeat slice of airy, urban pop with a restrained vocal performance from Mauboy".^[3] Sputnik Music described Running Back as "one-part smooth ballad with its twinkling piano loop and lovelorn lyrics, and one-part contemporary hip-hop with its deceptively slinky vocals and effective – if phoned in – Flo Rida cameo".^[4]

The music video was shot in Melbourne's Docklands area in early September 2008 while Flo Rida was there for his Australian tour.^[5] The video premiered on YouTube on 24 September 2008.^[6] Flo Rida's scenes were shot at the Chadstone Centre Motel in Oakleigh, Melbourne.

The Etihad Stadium is visible in the video clip.

"Running Back" debuted at #13 on the ARIA Singles Chart based solely on download sales and climbed to #3 after the physical CD single's release on 11 October.^[7][8] "Running Back" has also found success on the Australian Hot30 Countdown based upon daily voting, gaining her 4 #1's on separate occasions. The single has since peaked at #3 on the ARIA urban charts.
