Rubén Darío Insúa (born 1961, in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine football coach and former player. He has played for the Argentine national team a number of times.
[edit] Playing careerInsúa played most of his career in the Argentine top league. He also played in Barcelona and Deportivo Cali. He had a spell with Spanish side UD Las Palmas. [edit] Titles and awards as a playerInsúa was part of the Independiente team that won the 1988/1989 Primera. As a player, Insúa was regarded as a swift midfielder with an excellent touch for free kicks. This quality gained him his nickname of "Poeta del Gol" (Poet of the Goal). [edit] Managerial careerInsúa was the coach of San Lorenzo de Almagro winning the Copa Sudamericana in 20012 He also successfully coached Ecuador's Barcelona to a national title in 1997, and the Copa Libertadores finals in 1998.
