DeBlois Road, labeled Route 157, is a 2-lane collector highway in western Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is between the communities of Tignish and Miminegash. Its maximum speed limit is 80 km/h. The road is considered part of two larger communities, Tignish and Miminegash.

The highway runs from Route 155 (Thompson Rd) in Palmer Road, to Veteran's Memorial Highway Route 2 in St. Peter & St. Paul, passing through the communities of Palmer Road, DeBlois, and St. Peter & St. Paul.

[edit] History

Route 157 (DeBlois Road) is a continuously straight road that runs from SW of Tignish to SW of Palmer Road. The eastern section (in St. Peter & St. Paul) is paved, and is considered part of the Tignish region. The western section (in Palmer Road) is paved, and is considered part of the St. Louis/Miminegash region. The middle section is left unpaved, and is home to only two residents. Route 157 is home to the Ecole Pierre Chiasson (French school) with over 100 students, and The S.E. Perrey community Centre, which has been there since 1999. The currently paved section was repaved in 2005. The school is often called "DeBlois French school", incorrectly, because it is located in St. Peter & St. Paul. The school is, however, located on DeBlois Road.

DeBlois Road Was called at one time Hubert's (Arsenaux) Lane, as it was basically a sheep's path to his house (house currently under complete restoration). In the 1880 Atlas the Road Was named at that time DuBlois Road. Addresses west of the dirt road area receive electrical power from the St. Louis/Bloomfield substation, while addresses east of the dirt road receive power from Tignish/Elmsdale. Basic cable service from Eastlink is available from civic address 1–300, and Aliant High-speed internet is available from civic addresses 1–238.
