Rocky Michael Boiman (born January 24, 1980 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American football linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame. Boiman has also been a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles. He earned a Super Bowl ring with the Colts in Super Bowl XLI.
[edit] Early yearsRocky graduated in 1998 from St. Xavier High School in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.[1] During his stay at Notre Dame, Rocky played all 4 years and started his Junior and Senior years at linebacker. During his Senior year Rocky was named one of the Team Captain's under coach Bob Davie. [edit] Professional career[edit] First stint with TitansBoiman was drafted in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans where he played linebacker. He started out as a leader on special teams in his first couple years, setting the Oilers/Titans franchise record in special teams tackles with 28. He earned the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.[citation needed] His role increased as a linebacker during his 2nd and 3rd seasons with the Titans and earned AFC Defensive Player of The Week.[citation needed] [edit] Dallas CowboysAn unrestricted free agent, on March 20, 2006, Boiman signed a three-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys but was subsequently released on September 3, 2006. [edit] Indianapolis ColtsThe Indianapolis Colts picked Boiman up off waivers on September 4, 2006, where he went on to play in every game and earn a Super Bowl ring. Boiman re-signed with the Colts with a one-year contract in April 2007, and he went on to play in every game in 2007, including seven starts. [edit] Philadelphia EaglesOn March 24, 2008, Boiman signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.[2] He was cut on August 31 during final roster cuts. [edit] Kansas City ChiefsBoiman was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs on October 15, 2008. The move came one day after the team released linebacker Napoleon Harris. [edit] Second stint with TitansAfter three seasons away from the team, Boiman re-signed with the Tennessee Titans on August 11, 2009.[3] He was waived on September 4. Boiman was worked out by the Cleveland Browns on November 10, but remains unsigned.[4] [edit] Pittsburgh SteelersBoiman was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 24, 2009 after Donovan Woods was waived.
