[edit] Early life

Johnson was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His father was Robert Wood Johnson III, president of Johnson & Johnson for four years. He graduated from Millbrook School and the University of Arizona.

[edit] Career

Johnson became involved in charitable organizations full time in the 1980s. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and was a major fundraiser for George W. Bush's 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns. In 2000, Johnson was the fourth largest contributor to Bush's presidential campaign, giving $126,332. He has contributed heavily to causes related to diabetes, after his daughter Casey was diagnosed with the disease; he also started a research foundation, the Alliance for Lupus Research, after his daughter Jamie was found to have lupus.

Johnson is also the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Johnson Company, Inc., a private investment firm.

He was the committee president for Pre-Commissioning Unit for the USS New York (LPD-21).[2]

Johnson served on the NFL Commissioner search committee in which a list of 185 candidates to succeed Paul Tagliabue was narrowed down to the final choice of Roger Goodell.

[edit] Personal life

On 5 June 2009, Johnson married Suzanne Ircha, a former equities specialist and actress.[3][4] They have two sons together:

  • Robert Wood Johnson V (b. March 2006) ("Brick")[5]
  • Jack Johnson (b. October 2008)

He has three daughters Casey, Jaime and Daisy Johnson from a prior marriage.

His eldest daughter Casey passed away January 4, 2010. The cause of death is yet to be determined (pending coroner's toxicology report), however authorities reported "there is no evidence of foul play".

[edit] Residences

As of early 2000, Johnson had homes in Bedminster Township, New Jersey and on Columbus Circle in Manhattan.[6] He frequently arrives to Jets home games at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey via helicopter.[7]
