Robert "Bobby" Bunda is a Democratic member of the Hawaii Senate, representing the 22nd District since 1994 and currently serving as President Emeritus. Previously he was a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1983 through 1994.

He is the first Filipino American to attain the presidency of any state legislature in the United States.

He attended Leilehua High School.

The 2009 Achievement Award for Public Affairs was conferred to Senator Robert Bunda by Filipinas Magazine.^[1] The magazine, self-described as "the Magazine for Filipinos Worldwide" distinguished Senator Bunda as among the "brightest lights" of the Filipino community.^[2]

Senator Bunda announced on October 13, 2009, that he entered the 2010 race for Lieutenant Governor for the State of Hawaiʻi.^[3]
