[edit] Personal life

According to his answers to the questions in the official website of Pinoy Idol, Navarro loves to sketch, draw and to be in some games just for fun.

He considers his mom to be his source of musical talent. He also said that Stevie Wonder inspires him to be more determined in his singing talent because Stevie still inspires people through music and life despite his handicap.

People who stood up for what they believe in are the persons who really inspires him the most.[1]

[edit] Early career

He was once part of a singing group called the Wise Guys, but made a difficult decision to go solo, which he claims is paying off. He released an eponymous solo album way back in 1999 under Sony BMG Philippines.

He, and had some regular gigs in Bagaberde in Pasig, Masas Greenbelt 3 in Makati, Moomba in Roces Ave.[1]

[edit] Pinoy Idol performances

Navarro auditioned in Angeles City in Pampanga. He was chosen to be in the Top 24 and thus, making it to Top 12 where he performed the following songs according to the week's theme where the judges were always complimenting his performances.

[edit] Unexpected elimination

After Raymond Gutierrez said that it was Navarro's turn to go home, everyone was disappointed. Even the judges weren't expecting that Navarro had been eliminated that early.

When the bottom group was revealed (Daryl Celis, Sue Ellen and Robby Navarro), Ogie Alcasid wasn't expecting that Navarro would be in the bottom three, knowing that Navarro is one of the better singers in that competition. Adding to that, Jolina Magdangal said that it's not worth it to be included in a bottom group after a one performance that is not so good. While Wyngard Tracy warned the Filipino viewers to vote objectively and don't blame them if the winner of Pinoy Idol wouldn't be deserving.

Navarro, himself wasn't expecting that he'd been eliminated that early. It could not hide to his face that he was sad and he was not ready to go home, yet.

Some people think that the reason behind his elimination was at the Pinoy Idol Extra wherein the subject was "Test of patience and Social Skills".

Jayann Bautista was crying right after the show and saying that "We are both from Pampanga with Kid Camaya, as well. I know that he (Navarro) really wants to win and this is his last chance since he is already 28 (that time) years old. I know what he'd been through to achieve this." [2]

[edit] Post Pinoy Idol

Navarro appeared in some of GMA Network's shows including SOP, Sis and The Sweet Life with Lucy Torres - Gomez and Wilma Doesn't.[3][4][5][6]

He temporarily performed in SOP as one of the performers of the segment "You've Got Male" replacing Pinoy Pop Superstar Season 3 runner up Bryan Termulo for several weeks.[3] Navarro also had the chance to sing with RnB Prince Jay-R, Queen of Soul Jaya and his co - Pinoy Idol contestant Sue Ellen in singing "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys.[7]

He had the chance to sing with Ogie Alcasid in Sis in singing "Nais Ko" during Ogie's promotion of his album.[4] Navarro had again the chance to sing with Jay-R in singing "What You Won't Do For Love" originally performed by Bobby Caldwell to promote Jay-R's newest album Soul In Love.[5]

[edit] Album collaboration

When the "Ogie Sings with the Idols" was in full swing, it was rumored that Navarro will be having an album that will be produced by Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez under their iMusic Label. Ogie Alcasid said that "We're thinking about that. Robby deserves to have an album since he is one of the best singers in Pinoy Idol."[8]

Ogie was very vocal in saying that Navarro is great. That he [Navarro] is Ogie's bet right after the Top 12 was chosen.[8]

[edit] Current life

Navarro and Soul'd Free have been performing together again since October 2008. They are at Bagaberde in Roxas Boulevard, Barbariba in CCP Complex in Manila and at Moomba in Roces Avenue, Quezon City.[9]
