Richard Rich is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, assistant director and songwriter. He is well known for directing The Fox and the Hound and The Black Cauldron for The Walt Disney Company. He also wrote songs for The Small One and The Fox and the Hound. He worked as director, producer and writer on Animated Stories from the New Testament and Animated Stories from the Bible.

Rich started his career in the mailroom at Disney and worked his way up the corporate ladder. He started as animation director of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too, then worked as assistant director on The Rescuers, Pete's Dragon, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and The Small One (for which he wrote the song "A Friendly Face"). In 1981 he directed The Fox and the Hound along with Disney screenwriter Ted Berman and Art Stevens; he also directed The Black Cauldron (1985) with Berman. After The Black Cauldron Rich left Disney to start his own company, Rich Animation Studios, which latter became known as RichCrest Animation Studios. He then directed The Swan Princess series with musician Lex de Azevedo, who also composed the music for Animated Stories from the New Testament; The King and I; and The Trumpet Of The Swan. In 2006 he directed Muhammad: The Last Prophet. After the production he sold RichCrest Animation to Lionsgate, who renamed the studio Crest. Rich continued to direct Bible videos for Nest Entertainment.

He is currently working at Crest Animation Productions as producer for Alpha and Omega which will premiere in 2010.

Rich is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is the bishop of a ward in Burbank, California.
