Contents

[edit] Background

Green was a native of Louisiana and a Golden Gloves boxer in the 1960s.

[edit] Career as Referee

Green was the referee for the WBA Lightweight Title fight between Ray Mancini and Duk Koo Kim on November 13, 1982, the fight where Kim lost his life at age 23. Green blamed himself for allowing the fight to go on and for Kim's death[citation needed]. Green refereed one more bout before committing suicide on July 1, 1983 at his North Las Vegas home at age 46.[1]

Green was also the referee for the Larry Holmes-Muhammad Ali fight in 1980.
