The Rt Rev Richard Franklin Appleby , was an eminent Anglican Bishop in the late 20th Century^[1].
Born on 17 November 1940 he was educated at the University of Melbourne ^[2]. Ordained in 1967^[3], his first posts were curacies at Glenroy and North Balwyn^[4]. He was then Warden of Wollaston College^[5] and Chaplain to the Archbishop of Perth. From 1975 he was Rector of Belmont and then Dean of Bathurst^[6]. In 1992 he became Bishop of the Northern Territory, and retired in 1999
