Remix was an Indian television series produced by Rose Audio Visuals, which used to air on STAR One. It was a hit among teenagers and currently has reruns. The series is a remake of the popular Argentine soap Rebelde Way[citation needed].
[edit] ConceptThe story is set in an elite school called "Maurya High" that is an institution for the kids of the rich and the famous. The school also entertains scholarship students, who come from the poorer section of the society. The story revolves around the students, their lives, their insecurities, friendships, rivalries, and ambitions. Tia Ahuja (a fashion entrepreneur's only daughter), Anvesha Ray Banerjee (a Bollywood filmstar's only daughter), Yuvraaj Dev (youngest son of India's politician: Yashwant Dev), and Ranveer Sisodia (a Rajasthani royal; comes to Maurya to avenge the death of his father), the four main characters, would rather have very little to do with each other. Hailing from different backgrounds, all of them seem to have their priorities worked out and prefer to follow their own path towards fulfilling their ambitions. But destiny has another trail set for them. Circumstances force them to come together and through a series of dramatic twists and turns, the four form a music group Remix and become the singing sensation of the decade. The music of the title song of the show was composed by Pritam. The story also brings into play various other elements that shape the destiny of the four protagonists and the various other students, teachers and parents who form a bond with this elitist school. Touching upon the socio-economic divide, peer pressure, teenage dilemmas and other growing-up pangs, the show attempts to empathize with the adolescent in his quest for freedom. [edit] Lead Characters' Description[edit] Tia AhujaThe spoilt, rich, beautiful daughter of Sumeet Ahuja. She is exasperatingly self-centred, full of herself and a snob. She has a limited vies of life where only she, her makeup and her clothes exist. She is very spoilt by her dad, who gives her a lot of substitutes for not being there for her. But by heart she is shown to be a very caring, friendly and nice person. Though she makes a lot of effort to hide it, she misses her mother (who died when Tia was still very young). She finds a true best friend and guide in her teenage problems in Sonia Ray, a famous filmstar, who happens to be Anvesha's mother [edit] Ranveer SisodiaRanvir Sisodia, belongs to a Rajput clan settled near Jaipur. He is rustic and different from the other 'chilled-out' kids in the school. He wears a sun earring in one ear, the emblem of his clan and a bhawani maa pendant which belonged to his late father. Conventionally good-looking, older than the other kids and coming from a different background from them, Ranvir pretty much stands out. He also has a different dialect from all the others at Maurya and uses "hum" and "aap" and words like "bana" etc, which are alien to the other, primarily urban lot. [edit] Anvesha Ray BanerjeeSpirited, spunky and downright crazy, Anvesha is a rebel for the heck of it. She has a complex that her film star mother gets and craves all the attention that she should be getting instead. She thus wants to be the centre of attention all the time too, but in the exact opposite way of her mother. She is wild and a prankster and will stop at nothing. She dresses wild (ref: to Amrita Rao in Main Hoon Na), cares nothing for anyone and lives to shock. She is not a tom boy though, she fancies herself as sexy. Underneath her wild, tough exterior, she is a soft hearted girl. She makes a good show of being a dare-devil, but she is still immature and not as strong as she pretends to be [edit] Yuvraj DevYuvraj or Yuvi as he's called is a good-looking, rich and spoilt boy. He is the son of a very important politician Yashwant Dev. Yuvi is a rogue, a manipulator to whom the end justifies the means. Repressed by his father at home, he is the exact opposite of what he is expected to be. He is selfish and has a drinking problem. His father belongs to the Jat clan but Yuvi has always lived in Mumbai and has no peculiar dialect. He in fact is a naturally cool and "with it" kid. A born leader, he is the hot favourite at school.
