Remilekun "Remi" Ayodele (born April 22, 1983 in Grand Prairie, Texas) is an American football defensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at Oklahoma. Ayodele has also been a member of the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons. He is the younger brother of NFL linebacker Akin Ayodele.
[edit] Early yearsAyodele attended South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas and was a letterman in football. [edit] Professional careerAyodele was went undrafted in the 2006 NFL Draft, but signed as a free agent, first to the New England Patriots, then the Baltimore Ravens, and then to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad before being released in November 2006. After being released he was then re-signed by the Dallas Cowboys to a two year deal. [edit] Atlanta FalconsAfter being cut by the Dallas Cowboys in the Summer of 2007, he signed with Atlanta Falcons. [edit] Second stint with CowboysAfter being cut by Atlanta in September 2007, he was immediately re-signed and resessioned by the Dallas Cowboys to serve as a back up to Jay Ratliff, who was upgraded to starting nose tackle after Jason Ferguson suffered a season ending injury. Ayodele was cut on December 11, 2007. [edit] New Orleans SaintsThe Saints waived him on November 11, 2008. He was re-signed to the practice squad the following week. On October 4th 2009 Ayodele scored his first touchdown after defensive lineman Will Smith (American football) forced Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez to fumble it and it allowed Ayodele to recover it for the touchdown.
