Mauritania has 717 km of railway, the Mauritania Railway, which is owned and operated by a government mining company S.N.I.M.. The railway goes from the mine at Zouerat, passing the mine at Fderik, and ends at the port of Nouadhibou/Cansado. The track gauge is 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+¹⁄₂ in).
