Racci Shay (born Racci Shay Hart in LaGrange, Georgia) is an American rock drummer. He is most famous for his involvement with the Genitorturers, Dope, and most recently, Wednesday 13. He has been featured in the "Vic Firth Artist Spotlight", featuring an interview taken with him, at a live show with Wednesday 13 in NYC. [edit] Musical careerRacci has played in several bands starting with Shok L'amour in 1992 and then Synical until 1997 when he joined the Genitorturers. In 2001 Racci left the Genitorturers (replaced by Angel) to join the industrial group Dope. He stayed with Dope until 2005 (again replaced by Angel) when he quit. He then joined Wednesday 13's new band along with fellow Synical member Eric Griffin. Recently he has parted ways with Wednesday 13 following his alcohol problems sparked by his father's death towards the end of a mid-October 2007 tour. In the following months, Racci made it public on his myspace page why he had dropped out of Wednesday's tour support, as the details of the matter had been unknown until then. He went on to state that he has given up alcohol. He is currently looking to join an already established band and get back to touring. Since he was with Dope Racci has played Pearl drums, commonly with a two bass drum configuration. He used to play with Alchemy cymbals but currently uses Zildjian. His most recent configuration is unique in that he uses three floor toms arranged in the fashion of traditional toms. To facilitate this he uses a left-footed double pedal to position his bass drum by his hi-hat, enabling him to continue playing right-footed. He also uses Vic Firth Metal sticks.
