The Raúl Leoni Municipality is one of the 11 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Bolívar and, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 47,167.^[1] The town of Ciudad Piar is the shire town of the Raúl Leoni Municipality.^[2]

The Raúl Leoni Municipality, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, has a population of 47,167 (up from 36,654 in 2000). This amounts to 3.1% of the state's population.^[3] The municipality's population density is 0.83 inhabitants per square kilometre (2.1 /sq mi).^[4]

The mayor of the Raúl Leoni Municipality is Gilberto Antonio Villarroel Carvajal, re-elected on October 31, 2004 with 52% of the vote.^[5][6] The municipality is divided into three (four if you count the Capital Raúl Leoni section) parishes; Barceloneta, San Francisco, and Santa Bárbara.^[2]
