Autoroute 30 (or A-30, also known in French as Autoroute de l'Acier ["Steel Expressway"]) is a superhighway in Quebec, Canada. There are four segments currently open for travel:
A-30 serves as a bypass highway for the city of Montreal. It is located on the South Shore of the St. Lawrence River. When completed, it will allow vehicles traveling along Autoroute 20 to bypass Montreal from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec and then return to the A-20 in Boucherville, via Autoroute 10/Autoroute 15. The original section of Autoroute 30 linked Sorel to Autoroute 20. Later, in 1982, it was extended to Autoroute 10 in Brossard and then towards Autoroute 15. [edit] Autoroute 30 extension projectAt the end of 2005, construction on the portion between Candiac and Châteauguay had begun. The completion of the Montreal Bypass is set for 2012.[3] Autoroute 30 will be routed to the existing junction of Autoroute 20 and Autoroute 540. The existing A-30 road into Salaberry-de-Valleyfield west of a new junction with Autoroute 30 will be renamed Autoroute 530. Other existing segments of A-30 that will be superseded will be renamed Autoroute 730 and Autoroute 930 at least for inventory purposes, however they would be more likely signed as "vers" ("to"), to lead to the routes they lead to. The westernmost portion will be financed in a joint partnership between the public and private sector, while other sections will be funded only by the provincial government.[4][5]
