Pygmalion was a short play ("scène lyrique") written in 1762 by Jean-Jacques Rousseau with music by Horace Coignet. It was first performed at the Hotel de Ville, Lyon in 1770.

A novel feature of the work was the use of spoken monodrama with instrumental musical interludes. It is considered the first example of a melodrama.
