The office of Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire was created in 1957. From 1957 to 1958, the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire was subordinate to the French Governor of Côte d'Ivoire. From 1958 to 7 August 1960, the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire was subordinate to the French High Commissioner of Côte d'Ivoire. Since the independence of Côte d'Ivoire on 7 August 1960, the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire is subordinate to the President of Côte d'Ivoire.
