A bank loan officer Jerry Harden (Gary Cole) is turned upside down when a scruffy-looking guitarist named Izzy shows up at his bank office Jerry he wants to get their legendary KISS heavy metal band of an old rock group, Rock Toxic, back together one last time. Jerry is reluctant at first (he quit the band after waking up one morning in a dumpster after a night of partying) but is forced to reconsider when he finds that he hasn't enough money to send his 17 year old daughter named Olivia to college. He embarks upon living a hectic double life: Nerdish pillar of society by day & heavily-made-up rock singer by night. Since Jerry has never told his wife Allison (Sherilyn Fenn) who is a real estate agent & the campaign manager for Helen Hunter who is the politician wife of Jerry's boss Carl. Children named Olivia & Liam will discover that he once performed as "Dagger" in this group he is reluctant to take part in any reunion activities. Still the money offered is good and Jerry and Allison do have two kids to educate because of the money, Jerry agrees to take part in the concert. Since the group 'Rock Toxic" wore heavy "Kiss"-like makeup he doesn't think anyone will ever find out about his alternative persona. But this is when his troubles truly begin. Jerry fights to keep his past hidden while taking part in a concert which all the town will attending the rock concert: Rock Toxic. Jerry is a former heavy-metal as Dagger is a lead singer of Rock Toxic tries to keep his past a secret from his family and friends while he rehearses for Rock Toxic reunion concert until his family find out Jerry is rocking dad
