Polona Hercog (born January 20, 1991 in Maribor) is a Slovenian professional tennis player. Her highest singles ranking was No. 70, which she achieved on October 26, 2009. Her highest doubles ranking has been No. 157, a ranking she reached on September 22, 2008. Hercog has not won a title on the WTA Tour, but she has been able to earn four singles titles and four doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.

Hercog reached the final of the 2008 İstanbul Cup doubles competition with New Zealand's Marina Erakovic, before they lost to Jill Craybas and Olga Govortsova, 6–1, 6–2.[1]

Her best result in the singles competition of a WTA tournament has been at the 2009 Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem at Fes, Morocco. Hercog entered via the qualifying rounds, and beat 7th seed Roberta Vinci to reach the quarterfinals, where she was defeated by Alisa Kleybanova.At the 2009 French Open Polona defeated 23 seed Alisa Kleybanova 6-2 4-6 6-1 (Kleybanova defeated Polona in quarter-final of Fes),but then she lost to Aravane Rezai 3-6 6-4 6-2. At the 2009 US Open Polona lost in first round to American wildcard Christina McHale 3-6 1-6.At the 2009 BGL Luxembourg Open Polona defeated Maria Elena Camerin 3-6 7-5 7-5.She faced Sabine Lisicki of Germany in the second round and lost in a tight match 7-6 6-4.
