- 10 August 2004: Plymouth Argyle defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0, to go 2nd in the Championship. This is their highest ever place in League football.
- 13 August 2004: Argyle move into first place, thus improving their all time greatest League position.
- 24 August 2004: The team exit the League Cup in the first round for the 12th consecutive year.
