Pieter Huistra (born 18 January 1967, in Goënga, Friesland) is a former Dutch footballer.

Between 1990 and 1994 he played for Scottish Premier Division club Rangers, becoming the first of a number of Dutch players to play for the club, where he won five League medals, two League Cup medals and a Scottish Cup medal. He left Rangers to play for Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the J. League.

[edit] Coaching career

Huistra began his coaching career in 2001 as Head Coach by Jong Groningen and was here four years the Head Coach. On 1 July 2005 left Groningen and was named as the new assistant coach from Aad de Mos by Vitesse, here assisted four years between summer 2008[1] He is currently an assistant coach at AFC Ajax as replacement of the injured Rob Witschge[2] and was named as the new Jong Ajax Head Coach on 24 April 2009[3], he signed an contract between 30 June 2011[4]. In summer 2010, he will return to FC Groningen to replace Ron Jans[5].
