Peter Vitus von Quosdanovich (1738, Sichelburg near Carlstadt - 13 August 1802) was a general of the Austrian Empire. Feldmarschall-Lieutenant and Commander of the Order of Maria Theresa. General von Quosdanovich played a major role during the French Revolutionary Wars. He distinguished himself in the War of the Bavarian Succession of 1778-9. He was promoted to colonel of the Slavonian Hussar regiment and decorated with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Maria Theresa. In the following Austro-Turkish War (1787–1791) Quosdanovich was a General-Major and took over the command of Alt Gradisca. During the War of the First Coalition Quosdanovich first commanded a brigade, then a division. His attempts to break the French siege of the Mantua fortress were unsuccessful. He lost the Battle of Lonato against and had been rather ineffective at the crucial Battle of Rivoli during Napoleon's first Italian campaign.[1] [2] [3] [edit] See also[edit] References
