[edit] Life and career

Jacobson was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Jewish[1] Chicago news anchor Walter Jacobson. He is a 1987 graduate of Brown University and a 1991 graduate of Juilliard.[citation needed]

In 1997, he and Lisa Edelstein, a future co-star of his on the television series House, appeared as a couple eating at a restaurant in the movie As Good As It Gets.

Jacobson has played a recurring role on Law & Order as Randy Dworkin, a jovial crusading defense attorney attached to conservative causes. In 2005, Jacobson played "Jimmy" in the Academy Award-nominated film, Good Night, and Good Luck.[2]

He also appeared on Scrubs, CSI: Miami, The Lost Room, The Starter Wife, Transformers and The Midnight Meat Train. More recently he has appeared on House as Chris Taub, a plastic surgeon hoping to make Gregory House's diagnostics team. In October 2007, he was confirmed as a regular on the show.[3]

He made a guest appearance on USA Network's "Royal Pains" on July 30th. Jacobson played Alan, the nebbishy husband of Rachel, played by Brooklyn Decker.[4]

He also has a cameo in Tony Scott's 2005 film Domino.
