Peggy Allenby (February 14, 1901 – March 23, 1966) was an American silent film actress who continued as performer in television. She appeared in silent films, including The Man Who Came Back (1922).
[edit] BiographyShe may be best-known for her role as "Mattie Lane Grimsley" on the CBS-TV soap opera Edge of Night. Peggy Allenby was in the show's cast from 1956 - 1966. She also appeared on The Philco Television Playhouse (1951), Cosmopolitan Theater (1951), Taste of Tomorrow (1952), First Love (1954), Studio One (1954), and The United States Steel Hour (1959). From 1930 to 1950 her voice was a part of such radio broadcasts as David Harum and Road of Life. On stage she played the role of the wife of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman. She also appeared in The Happy Journey on Broadway. Allenby was married to John McGovern, an actor.
