Pedro Julio Astacio (born November 28, 1969 in Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic) is a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1992- part of 1997), Colorado Rockies (part of 1997- part of 2001), Houston Astros (part of 2001), New York Mets (2002-2003), Boston Red Sox (2004), Texas Rangers (2005), the San Diego Padres (part of 2005) and the Washington Nationals (2006). In 2007, Astacio signed a contract with the Nationals' AAA-class affiliate, the Columbus Clippers, but they released him in May and he has not pitched since then.
[edit] BiographyAttended Pilar Rondon High School in the Dominican Republic. He owns a ranch in Quisqueya, Dominican Republic next to the ranch of Florida Marlins pitcher Armando Benitez. He is married to Ana and has 3 sons: Pedro Jr., Julio and Pedro Justo, and he has two daughters, Monica and Annie. Astacio received a World Series Championship ring as a member of the 2004 Boston Red Sox. Pedro is an amateur Jai Lai player and has recently applied for Pakistani citizenship so he may compete in the annual National Jai Lai Championships (NJLC). Astacio currently holds the record for the most career strikeouts by a member of the Colorado Rockies, with 749 strikeouts between 1997 and 2001. [edit] See also[edit] References
