He made his first MLS start on June 24, 2007 against the Kansas City Wizards. In that game, he scored on a late header and contributed defensively in a 1-0 shutout win that helped earn him continued playing time as a center back. On January 26, 2009, Ianni was acquired by Seattle Sounders FC from Houston Dynamo via trade. He made his Sounders debut on May 16, 2009, on the road against FC Dallas and scored his first goal for the club against his former club Houston Dynamo on July 11, 2009.[2]
