Saint Germanos I was Patriarch of Constantinople from 715 to 730. He is regarded as a saint, with a feast day of May 12.

Appointed by Emperor Anastasios II, Patriarch Germanos negotiated his abdication after the victory of Theodosios III in 715.

In 730 Germanus resigned rather than subscribe to the iconoclast decree of Emperor Leo III, which he felt could not be enacted without an ecumenical council. He was replaced by an iconoclast patriarch, Anastasios, and died a few years later.

John VI
