Palms Middle School south campus, called "the P.E. side" by students.

Palms Middle School, also known as just "Palms", is a grades 6-8 public middle school in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, and is under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The Palms campus also houses an affiliated gifted magnet.

The Palms Middle School Campus is separated by Palms Boulevard into an academic campus and a gym/field campus. Students are able to move from campus to campus by an underground tunnel, which runs directly below palms Boulevard.

Several neighborhoods, including Palms, Cheviot Hills and Beverlywood, feed into Palms Middle School.

The principal, as of 2006, is Bonnie Murrow. Palms Middle School has a creative music program extending to, an orchestra, two bands (the Gold Band and the Blue Band), and a chorus. It also has a drama program, a yearbook committee, and many more. The instrumental music teacher is Ms. Julie West, an alumna from UCLA and the choral music teacher is Ms. Monica Chi. The resident computer lab coordinator, Mr. An, is notable for his extensive contributions to computer education at Palms, including a comprehensive refurbishing of the computer lab.

Palms Middle School feeds into Hamilton High School and Venice High School.

Nikki Reed, famous actress who starred in Thirteen and Twilight, attended this school as well as Hamilton High School. However, she did not graduate from either place, seeing as she dropped out and became home-schooled after returning from the filming and release of Thirteen. Reed stated that her reason for dropping out the final time was because of "mothers who were sneaking into the school at lunchtime to confront and harass her about the film."[1]
