The paleocortex is a layer of the cerebral cortex intermediate phylogenetically between the neocortex and archicortex.^{[citation needed]}

Paleocortex includes anterior olfactory nucleus, anterior perforated substance, prepyriform area and periamygdalar area.^[1]
