Pachanga Latino Music Festival is the first Latin-themed music, cultural arts and food festival originated in Austin, Texas.[citation needed] Pachanga is a one-day festival that showcases a vibrant blend of Latino-created music and works of art, as well as provides the community with the authentic taste of Latin-inspired food. The purpose of the festival is to show the impact that these works of art and contributions have made to American culture today.

Pachanga Fest made its first debut on May 31, 2008 at Waterloo Park in Austin, Texas and attracted nearly 2,000 visitors.

[edit] Activities

Pachanga provides an interactive area for children that features hands-on cultural activities for them to participate in. Dance lessons, specifically in Latin-based styles like Salsa, are also available for attendees to enjoy. Music workshops and artist appearances are also available to reach out to Austin's huge network of musicians, bands and other individuals involved in the highly popular music scene.

[edit] Pachanga Festival 2008

The inaugural Pachanga Festival was held on May 9, 2008 at Waterloo Park in Austin, Texas. Pachanga hosted over 20 different musicians and DJs from Texas, California, New York City and Latin America. It also showcased arts and crafts from prominent Latino artists as well as social and political activist areas. The line-up included mixes from many different styles. This ranged from rock and alternative to tejano, cumbia, floklorico, and reggaeton. This was an effort to create a sound that was unique, Latin and American.
