[edit] HistoryPOP TV started broadcasting on December, 15 1995. Since its first day it has broadcast the news format 24UR. POP TV introduced domestic entertaining shows: No Limits with Jonas (Brez zapor z Jonasom), POP Party (POP Party) with Anja Rupel, 1,2,3, Who Wins? (1,2,3, Kdo dobi?) with Saša Einsiedler and Robert Erjavec, Super POP (Super POP) with Stojan Auer, quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (Lepo je biti milijonar), Deal or No Deal (Vzemi ali pusti) with Zmago Batina, etc. On the field of entertainment it was the first to launch reality shows with The Bachelor (September 2004), The Bachelorette 1 and 2 (first time in March 2005), The Bar 1 and 2 (first time in September 2005), The Farm (September 2007). POP TV also brought sitcom on the Slovenian media market: TV Good Day (TV Dober dan) (October 1999), Under One Roof (Pod eno streho) (September 2002), Tobacco Shop (Tafika)(February 2003), Our Little Clinic (Naša mala klinika)(September 2004). For a decade POP TV was broadcasting Miss Slovenia and Miss World contests (beginning in 1996) and until today it has broadcast live the award of prestigious awards for media achievements in popular culture – Viktors. Sports have been present all the time; since 1996 Sport Scene was broadcast for more than a decade; from 1996 POP TV offers exclusive coverage of Formula 1 races with Miran Ališič as commentator and since March 2007 also Moto GP races. POP TV was the first to introduce the telenovel genre on our market (June 1997). From the very beginning the program is rich with numerous blockbusters and world series, from September 2002 there has also been a children’s program called »Ringa-Raja«. [edit] AchievementsFor its achievements POP TV has already received 30 Viktors, the prestigious awards for media achievements and achievements in popular culture. At the last award Viktors 2008 (March 2009) POP TV received 5 golden statues: 24UR (Viktor for News TV program), Can U Dig It?! (As ti tud not padu?!) (professional Viktor and Viktor of popularity for entertaining show), Jurij Zrnec (professional Viktor and Viktor of popularity for the host of entertaining TV show). On the international festival PROMAX, which is recognized in the world as the most prestigious award for promotors and advertisers who are present in the electronic media, POP TV has already received 5 awards for its promotional achievements. Two in Athens in April 2005: Gold medal in the category »Best News Promo« for the promotional spot for the show Confirmed! and gold medal in the category »Never Broadcast Promo« for the film Minority Report. POP TV also received prestigious medals at the international festival in 2002: Gold medal in the category »Best Drama Promo« for the promotional spot for the series Profiler, in 2001 silver medal in the category »Best Quiz Promo« for the promo for Millionaire and in 2000 gold medal for the best promotional spot for the film In the Line of Fire. [edit] ProgramSince 2008 POP TV has been offering news during the entire day with the programs 24UR IN THE AFTERNOON, 24UR and 24UR AT NIGHT, since March 17, 2009 there is also a weather forecast under the name 24UR WEATHER at five minutes to seven in the evening. There is also a weekly news program Confirmed! (Preverjeno!)(in October 2009 the 300th show will be broadcast). On Sunday it is possible to watch the entertaining show »Can U Dig It?!« ("As ti tud not padu?!"), the sitcom It's Nice to be a Neighbour (Lepo je biti sosed), the reality show Farm with Celebrities (Kmetija slavnih) and the cooking show Love Through the Stomach (Ljubezen skozi želodec). Furthermore, POP TV offers live transmissions of Formula 1 and Moto GP races, the beauty contest Miss Universe Slovenia and the award of Viktors. In addition, POP TV presents foreign programs with various contents: Telenovels, films, series and documentaries, during weekends also the program for Children called »Ringa-Raja«. [edit] General DirectorPavel Vrabec can be placed among the pioneers of the Slovenian media area and its best experts. Before he started his career in the company PRO PLUS d.o.o. he was a successful manager on popular Slovenian radio stations. He joined PRO PLUS in 1996 as Director of Sales. In April 2005 he was appointed Deputy General Director and until December 2009 he performed his function with a professional approach and thorough, long-standing expertise on the domestic market and abroad.
