PFC Chernomorets Burgas (Bulgarian: ПСФК Черноморец Бургас) or simply Chernomorets (Bulgarian: Черноморец) is a Bulgarian football club from the city of Burgas. The club is the official successor of the traditions and successes of PFC Chernomorets founded in 1919 and restored in 2005. Chernomorets plays it's home games at Lazur Stadium, but the team will soon move to a new stadium.

Currently the team's home kit is entirely in blue and the away kit is entirely in white. Various combinations of blue and white have been seen through the years, but blue remains the basic colour of the team.

The club's best seasons in the Bulgarian top division was in the 1981/82 and 1983/84 -5th place. The club has played a total of 31 seasons in Bulgarian top division. In 1989 Chernomorets qualified for the final of Bulgarian Cup against CSKA Sofia, but the result of the match was a 0:3 loss for Chernomorets. In spite of loss, lead by Dian Petkov, Zlatko Yankov, Lyubomir Sheytanov and Vlado Stoyanov "the Sharks" qualified for UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. The club's first participation in European club tournaments was not promising. They face Dinamo Tirana from Albania.

The team 2008-09

The first game in Burgas, in the presence of 17 000 spectators, ended with a 3-1 win. But the second game in Tirana finished 0-4 loss and Chernomorets were out of the UEFA tournament. In 2004 the team with chairman Ivaylo Drazhev (former owner) went bankrupt relegated from 2003/2004 A PFG and 2004/2005 B PFG. In year 2005/2006 the club was restored by major of Burgas. After three years "the new Chernomorets" qualified again for the Bulgarian first division. During the 2005/2006 season, the club competed in the amateur Bulgarian South-East V AFG and qualified for the Bulgarian B Professional Football Group by finishing first. In June 2006 Chernomorets Burgas won the Bulgarian amateur cup. In the final at the Vasil Levski National Stadium, in the presence of 350 spectators, Chernomorets won with 4-0 against FC Benkovski Kostinbrod. From the 2007/08 season the club will be competing in the highest level of Bulgarian football, A PFG. In the 2007/2008 season "the Sharks" qualified for the Intertoto Cup after taking 6th place in the Bulgarian "A" professional football group. There, they defeated ND Gorica of Slovenia in the second round 3-1 on aggregate to set up a third round meeting with Grasshopper Zurich, but were eliminated by the Swiss team[1]. In December 2008 Chernomorets's owner appointed for coach of the team Bulgarian notable player Krassimir Balakov[2][3]. For the 2008/2009 season the team's budget is 4 000 000 EUR.

Chernomorets plays it's home games at Lazur Stadium. Lazur Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Burgas, Bulgaria. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 18 037 people and it's 3 star rated by UEFA. The stadium was opened in 1967 and was renovated in 1997 and 2009.

Chernomorets Arena[4] is a future modern stadium in Burgas, which is going to be the new home ground of Chernomorets Burgas. The new venue will be built in the place of the old Chernomorets Stadium and will have a capacity of 30,000 spectators and a possible expansion to 55,000. It is scheduled to be opened in 2012. The construction will start in the summer of 2010, because of the current demolishing process of the old stadium and the global financial crisis, and will cost 500 million euros, making it one of the most expensive stadiums in Europe. The stadium will be probably rated with a elite ranking by UEFA and will host Champions League and Europa League matches in Burgas and Eastern Bulgaria.

Up to three non-EU nationals can be registered and given a squad number for the first team in the A PFG. Those non-EU nationals with European ancestry can claim citizenship from the nation their ancestors came from. If a player does not have European ancestry he can claim Bulgarian citizenship after playing in Bulgaria for 5 years.

The first data that is organizing a large group of people who support the team with flags, scarves and songs from the end of the 70's and early 80's. Then the so-called differentiated.

The Blue Sharks

'English sector 'of the stadium then 'Ninth September'. So because of traditions, and to this day fans Chernomorets are considered old school, one of the oldest and traditional fans in Bulgaria. Full 2000-3000 people at each match, the 'English sector' became emblematic of the city and is a real honor for every believer to enter there. But often have only a 15-16 year sharks and youngsters are not allowed in the sector of old ringleader. In these years, starting in mass visits to the visiting team in the province that are not always passed smoothly.

However, the importance of the match determined to a large extent and the number of 'sharks'. And while seemingly meaningless games had 20 000 people, the unbeaten record to this day remains a semifinal match of the Cup of Bulgaria against Levski Sofia in Haskovo in 1989 a year. 7 thousand fans from Burgas Dimitar Kanev fill the stadium in the southern city to see a 3:1 victory and a final ranking for the Cup and ensured the country's participation in the tournament for the SSC.

In 1998, a year supporters of Chernomorets decided to officially join in the partnership, which is called Fanclub Blue Sharks. Roughly at the same time begins the separation of certain groups and factions, mainly conceptual or district basis. To conflicts among them, however, has never come on. Blue Sharks Fanclub not maintain close relations with any of the organizations supporters of other Bulgarian teams, but this does not mean that any deliberate enmity. Good connection to the Blue Sharks with a central fanklub PAOK F.C., which prepared and even had a cooperation agreement, also in Dutch ADO Den Haag.
