Oxford Circus is the area of London at the busy intersection of Regent Street and Oxford Street, in the City of Westminster. It is served by Oxford Circus tube station, which is directly beneath the junction itself.

The area was constructed in the beginning of the 19th century, designed by John Nash.

New crossing at Oxford Circus

In 2009, Westminster City Council commenced a £4m pedestrianisation scheme for the area, allowing shoppers to cross the intersection diagonally, turning it into a "pedestrian scramble", much like Tokyo's Shibuya crossing.^[1] Work started in Summer 2009, and the crossing opened on November 2nd of the same year.^[2]
