The Ovation Channel was created by Optus Television as a platform for showcasing "the arts" in Australia, almost exclusively the populist or "middlebrow" strands of cultural endeavour as epitomised by the likes of Andre Rieu, Michael Buble and Agatha Christie. Optus sold the channel to Independent Entertainment, a company run by former SBS head Paddy Conroy, in 2006. It is available in Australia on subscription platforms Austar, Foxtel, Optus Television and SelecTV. Program Categories include:
