Ouidad (/we-dad/), a hair curl expert, started her career as a student styling hair for top designers, Broadway productions and advertising agencies in New York.

In 1984 she became the first stylist in the US to open a ‘curls only’ salon.

Ouidad has featured in the media, including Cosmopolitan, Shape, the Today Show and CNN ^[1].

In the media and the hair dressing industry, she is often referred to as ‘the Queen of Curl’.

As of 2009, Ouidad ‘curls only’ certified salons can be found in 22 cities across the US.

In 2002, Ouidad published her first book, Curl Talk; Everything You Need to Know to Love and Care for Your Curly, Kinky, Wavy, or Frizzy Hair^[2]

Her flagship salons are located in Manhattan (New York) and Santa Monica.

Ouidad studied lessons in chemistry before launching her own range of ‘Ouidad’ hair products, specifically formulated with proteins and vitamins to help define and manage curls.
