"On a Clear Day I Can't See My Sister" is the eleventh episode of The Simpsons' sixteenth season, which originally aired on March 6, 2005.

[edit] Plot

The students of Springfield Elementary go on a field trip to the Springfield Glacier. Unfortunately, the glacier has melted heavily, becoming little more than a lake. Bart makes Lisa's entire trip a living nightmare, from tripping her on the bus to making a bad drawing of her for everyone to see. Lisa soon gets more and more upset and promises swift revenge against Bart. Meanwhile, Homer and Marge go shopping at the local Sprawl-Mart, where Grampa as store greeter, causes an accident that puts him out of action and Homer is asked to take over his job.

The next day, it transpires that Lisa has had a restraining order filed against Bart (and explained further in a video called "Get Out of My Dreams, and Also Out of My Car," hosted by Gary Busey). Bart is forced to be 20 feet (6 m) away from Lisa at all times, or he will face legal consequences. To make the restraining order easier to enforce, Homer makes a 20-foot pole with a screwdriver on one of the ends to keep them apart. However, this drastically affects Bart's life at home and school, where Principal Skinner assigns Groundskeeper Willie to be his new teacher. The situation only gets worse when Lisa starts abusing her new legal power in order to terrorize Bart by constantly following him around wherever he goes. Marge makes an appeal in court to get the restraining order removed. At the hearing, Bart antagonizes and insults Judge Constance Harm, which leads to her increasing the restraining order to 200 feet (61 m) and Bart is moved at the edge of the Simpson family property. While he lives there, his begins to embrace the nature surrounding him and his new feral dog companions.

Marge watches with ever-increasing anxiety, concerned he is losing his sanity and shocked that Lisa had stooped so low, and pleads with Lisa to forgive him. Lisa flat-out refuses, claiming that Bart has never done three nice things for her in his life. Marge points out two (bringing homework to her while she was sick, and cheering her up after her pet hamster died, by putting Homer's hand between two buns of bread and making him bite it constantly, as if it were a hotdog) and Lisa looks out the window, where she sees the third: that Bart has made a giant statue of her made out of straw. She happily runs out to meet him, but the school bullies turn up and reveal that they were intending to burn the statue. Lisa is initially disheartened, but after Bart tells her that the fire represents her musical ability, she admits she missed his lies and burns the restraining order and the poking pole along with the statue. The family reunites and play the song Tijuana Taxi. Bart chases the cat on all fours.

[edit] Alternate ending

There was an alternate ending for the episode, but was never made. Homer punches the manager of the Sprawl-Mart for shocking him. The manager gets fired for making fun of the employees.
