Olds is a small town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 61 km (38 mi) south of Red Deer, the nearest city, and 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Calgary. Olds is entirely within the boundaries of rural Mountain View County. The nearest neighbouring communities are the towns of Didsbury and Sundre.
The town is located along Alberta Highway 2A, west of the Queen Elizabeth II highway. The Canadian Pacific Railway's main Edmonton-Calgary line runs through the town.
Olds is rapidly expanding, with a large "big box" retail area opening as of 2008 with a Wal-Mart and other major retailers. Olds is also home to the Olds College campus. Olds College is noted for its Agricultural Programs, as well as its Fashion Marketing Studies.[2]

In 2006, Olds had a population of 7,248 living in 3,190 dwellings, a 9.7% increase from 2001. The town has a land area of 11.05 km2 (4.3 sq mi) and a population density of 656.1 /km2 (1,699.3/sq mi).[1]
