Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III was born on 11 November 1932 in Ghana as John Kwame Amofa Appiah.

He studied Public Administration in Pennsylvania. In 1955 he became Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III, King of Denkyira.

In 1999 he was elected 'President of the National House of Chiefs'. -2005, in Jukwa and in Dunkwa on Offin, marked his Golden Jubilee.

He is currently living in Accra, due to short illness. The People of Dunkwa On Offin speak TWI and most of the local citizens are from the Denkyira Clan. The Most popular place in Dunkwa-On-Offin is called Dunkwa Soro which is where all the youth hang out during day and night times.

Odeefuo is a very loyal Chief and his people always come first no matter what. He was good friends with the late James Yaw Buadi whom he appointed as a local Chief to rule three local areas in Dunkwa (Aggrey road, Kromanti and Broomasi).
