Oak Street is a short street on Chicago's Gold Coast at 1000 North in Chicago's street numbering system, running from 138 east to 648 west in the Near North Side community area of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States.[1] It ends without crossing the North Branch of the Chicago River. West of the river 1000 North is called Augusta Boulevard.
[edit] Points of interestIn its eastern part (between Michigan Avenue and Rush Street), Oak Street is one of Chicago's most prestigious shopping destinations. Unlike nearby Magnificent Mile, which features upscale chain stores and large department stores, it is known for its exquisite boutiques. The Esquire Theater is also on the street. Further east it lies between Oak Street Beach and the East Lake Shore Drive Historic District. Luxury stores on the street include Prada, Barneys New York, Hermès, Tod's, Yves Saint Laurent, Kate Spade, Jil Sander, Loro Piana, Furla, calypso, Judith Ripka, Frette, Marina Rinaldi, Agent Provocateur, Juicy Couture, Luca Luca, Graff Diamonds, Harry Winston, Vera Wang, Wolford Boutique, Me&Ro, A pea in the pod, ACA All Custom Attire, AG Jeans, Diesel, BCBG Max Azria, Bang & Olufsen, Paul Stuart & Phineas Cole, and Chicago's own Ultimo.
