The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service covering the county of Northamptonshire in the English East Midlands.
[edit] HistoryThe Northamptonshire Fire Brigade and the separate Northampton Borough Fire Brigade were created in 1948 by the Fire Services Act 1947. In 1974 the Northampton FB was merged with Northamptonshire FB to create the present service. [edit] Co-responder StationsNorthamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service works in partnership with the East Midlands Ambulance Service to provide emergency medical cover to areas of Northamptonshire. These are 2 areas that have been identified as having a greater need for ambulance cover. The aim of a co-responder team is to preserve life until the arrival of either a Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) or an ambulance. Co-responder vehicles are equipped with oxygen and automatic external defibrillation (AED) equipment. 2 of Northamptonshire fire stations operating as co-responders:
