Noel Baillie (born 23 February 1971) is a semi-professional footballer (soccer player) from Northern Ireland currently playing for Linfield, the most successful club in the Irish Premier League. He is the club captain. He plays as a sweeper (Central Defence) and wears shirt number 11. Noel joined Linfield in 1986 from Hillsborough Boys' Club and this has been his only club for over 20 years. Noel began playing in the Swifts and made his first team debut on Saturday 30 March 1989 away to Ballymena in the County Antrim Shield first round tie at the age of 17. Noel played his 900th game for the Blues on 30 April 2007. In the summer Noel signed another one year contract with the Club. Following Pat McShane's departure to Lisburn Distillery, Baillie is the only current Linfield player who was at the club prior to the arrival of David Jeffrey as manager. Baillie has played under four Linfield managers - Roy Coyle, Eric Bowyer, Trevor Anderson and David Jeffrey. In 1993/94 he was named as the Ulster Footballer of the Year.[1] [edit] References
