Nigel Vagana (born 7 February 1975 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a retired international rugby league footballer currently contracted to the South Sydney Rabbitohs of the NRL. He has represented both New Zealand and Samoa and became the Kiwis' all time top try-scorer with 19.

Vagana also previously played for the (then) Auckland Warriors, Bulldogs, Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and Warrington Wolves.

Vagana has represented the New Zealand national team on thirty-two separate occasions between 1998 and 2006, including playing in the 2000 World Cup.

His position of choice is at centre; however he has played at five-eighth during his career on several occasions. Vagana announced his retirement from international rugby league following the 2006 Tri Nations series.

Vagana is also the cousin of Bradford Bulls prop-forward Joe Vagana and former Silver Ferns netball player Linda Vagana.

He is eligible to represent Samoa.[3]

He has been named in the Samoa training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.[4] He captained Samoa in the world cup, scoring a memorable, length-of-the-field try against Tonga.

He has signed a two year contract with NRL club South Sydney, starting in 2007, expiring at the end of 2008
